Job Description

Join an award-winning team as a Remote Medical Coder. This FULLY REMOTE position within the US offers the chance to contribute to our national presence while enjoying the flexibility of working from home. Occasional travel to client sites may be required for onboarding and training purposes including a 3-day onsite training to begin.

Responsibilities:

  • Accurately assign ICD-10 CM, E/M, ICD-10 PCS, CPT, HCPCS, modifiers, and units based on documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with coding standards across various medical coding encounters, including Outpatient, Emergency Room, Surgery, and Inpatient facilities.
  • Process encounters within specified SLAs, addressing deficiencies as needed.
  • Respond to audits promptly and implement corrections post-adjudication.
  • Complete required government system training, including annual and ad-hoc sessions.
  • Meet or exceed weekly productivity and quality targets.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and adhere to directives from Site Managers/Project Managers.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Active coding certification credentials from AHIMA or AAPC (e.g., CCS, CCS-P, CPC, RHIA, or RHIT) with proof of ongoing certification.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in DoD medical coding, re-coding, abstraction, analysis, and medical record data assembly.
  • Demonstrated accuracy rating of 97% or higher.
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Eligibility for DOD security clearance; must not have been unfavorably removed from a government position.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office 365 applications.
  • Ability to work in a secure environment, ensuring HIPAA compliance.
  • Experience with DoD Systems (e.g., MHS Genesis, EM360, JLV) preferred.
  • Familiarity with multiple medical specialties preferred.
