Position – Specialty Physician Coder: 
- Required: CPC and/or CHONC and/or COBGC and/or CCS certification.
- Specialty coding certification highly desired.
- 3 years of experience in hospital or physician's office medical coding with physician interaction.
- 1 year of experience as a specialty coder in Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Medical Hematology/Oncology, OBGYN, Pulmonology, or Radiation Oncology.
- Expert knowledge of ICD10, CPT, and HCPCS coding.
- Highly desired experience with Epic software.
- Proficient in Microsoft.

Purpose Statement / Position Summary: 
Guided by the Coding Compliance Manager, the Specialty Physician Coder plays a pivotal role in reviewing and analyzing specialty coding and billing for efficient charge processing. This position entails accurately coding a variety of medical services, ensuring compliance for inpatient and outpatient services, diagnostic tests, and other procedures. The Specialty Physician Coder collaborates with the Coding Compliance Manager to address coding trends, irregularities, and necessary action items.

- Analyze monthly coding change reports and oversee provider coding trends.
- Weekly review of Missing Charge Reports for maximizing reimbursement.
- Attend and participate in specialty provider meetings.

Experience: 
- 3 years of experience in hospital or physician's office medical coding with physician interaction.
- 1 year of experience as a specialty coder in Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Medical Hematology/Oncology, OBGYN, Pulmonology, or Radiation Oncology.
- Expert knowledge of ICD10, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
- Required experience with Epic software.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office skills.

Education: 
- High School diploma or GED required.
- CPC, CCS, or equivalent certification required.
- Specialty coding certification highly desired.
