We are currently seeking a detail oriented Certified Professional Coder (CPC or equivalent) to join our billing department.

Essential Work Duties

  • Reconciles daily charges to provider schedules.
  • Enters new patient demographics for hospital and dialysis patients and updates existing patient information in Epic billing system.
  • Reviews office and hospital consultative and follow up notes to ensure proper documentation guidelines are adhered to.
  • Selects appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes from documentation and enters charges into Epic billing system.
  • Corresponds with providers to offer guidance with documentation requirements.
  • Performs monthly documentation audits and communicates deficiencies to Billing Manager and providers.
  • Verifies patient insurance and other third-party payer coverage through Epic billing system and outside payer and vendor portals.
  • Verifies patient information is complete and includes all necessary authorizations.
  • Provides response to patient financial inquiries with attention to confidentiality.
  • Attends monthly team meetings.
  • Performs other tasks as requested by Billing Manager.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent. Completion of a Medical Office or Medical Billing training program preferred.
  • CPC Education: Current Certified Professional Coder certification through accredited agency (AAPC). Ensure CEU’s are current and up to date.
  • Training/Experience: 3(three) years previous medical office billing experience is preferred. Data entry skills. 1-2 years coding professional services in a hospital environment required.
  • Skills Required: Knowledge of medical terminology, good communication skills, ability to work well with people in a pleasant and cooperative manner, ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
