You’ll combine your orthopedic surgical knowledge with coding expertise to ensure surgical cases are accurately documented, coded, and billed. You’ll partner across our Operatory, Materials Management, clinical, and Revenue Cycle teams to identify discrepancies, prevent missed charges, and support revenue integrity.This is an excellent opportunity for someone who understands the clinical side of orthopedic surgery and has expanded their expertise into coding, charge capture, surgical billing, materials management, or implant coordination.Schedule & LocationOnsite position supporting OrthoVirginia’s Operatory teamWork between our Shrader Road and Westchester Commons locations based on operational needsMonday through FridayWhat You’ll DoReview completed orthopedic surgical cases to ensure procedures, implants, supplies, and other billable items are accurately captured.Review operative documentation and apply appropriate CPT, HCPCS, and modifier coding.Reconcile operative records with cut sheets, purchase orders, bill-only documentation, and other supporting documentation to verify implant and supply usage.Partner with surgeons and clinical teams to clarify procedures, address missing or conflicting documentation, and resolve discrepancies before claims move forward.Collaborate with Materials Management to support accurate implant, consignment, inventory, and bill-only workflows.Audit surgical cases for coding, documentation, and charge accuracy to identify missing charges and help prevent revenue loss.Confirm surgical assistant and other applicable billing requirements.Maintain accurate and timely information within the EHR and inventory management systems.Partner across Operatory, Materials Management, and Revenue Cycle to resolve discrepancies and identify opportunities to improve charge capture, revenue integrity, and processes.What You’ll BringRequiredCurrent coding credential such as CPC, CCS-P, CRC, or equivalent.Orthopedic experience with knowledge of surgical procedures, workflows, instrumentation, implants, and supplies.Experience in a surgical setting, such as an ASC, hospital OR, or office-based operatory.Working knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, modifiers, and surgical coding practices.Experience with EHR systems and strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.PreferredSurgical Technologist/CST or other direct OR clinical experience.Experience with surgical charge capture, billing, materials management, or implant coordination.Knowledge of implant tracking, consignment inventory, or bill-only workflows.Revenue integrity or reimbursement experience.Epic experience.Your Experience May Look DifferentThere’s more than one path to this role.
