BILLING & COLLECTIONS SUPERVISOR for PULMONARY Medical Clinic in LOS ANGELES. This private practice is seeking a hands-on Billing Supervisor to manage the full revenue cycle, lead a small team, and ensure optimal collections for practice viability.
JOB DETAILS
Supervise the entire revenue cycle to facilitate smooth billing and effective collections from Insurance and self-pay
Oversee 2-3 financial office staff, delegating tasks and adjusting processes as needed to handle variations in workload
Ensure Insurance verification and authorizations are handled in a timely manner
Ensure Front Office staff are supported with insurance verification information to facilitate up-front collections of copayments and other monies at check-in
Support billing staff with problem solving and billing best practices to ensure billing is sent out as accurately and promptly as possible
Assist billing staff to evaluate denials, triage denial causes through investigation of medical records, and follow up with professionally drafted appeals
Monitor collections to keep aging at a minimum
Facilitate meetings and reporting on billing and aging statuses with key management
Prepare daily deposits of live checks and track daily banking via spreadsheet in preparation for monthly submission to accountant
Handle adhoc projects and reports as needed
Coordinate monthly billing meetings and mail staff and keep staff and physicians informed regarding general billing updates/information
Provide occasional assistance with credentialing
Remain a general support for the Practice Manager
REQUIREMENTS
Comprehensive background in full-cycle medical billing, including verification, charge entry, payment posting, collections, contract interpretation, payor portals, and basic coding knowledge
Broad expertise with diverse payor types and guidelines, including HMOs (IPAs and Medical Groups), PPOs, Medicare, and Medi-Cal
Working knowledge of Clearinghouse, electronic payment processing, and remittance advice (ERA/EOB) interpretation
Strong problem-solving skills with a proven track record of efficiently investigating insurance denials and turning them into paid claims
Ability to read billing software reports to spot trends, identify root issues, and resolve patient billing concerns with excellent customer service
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for corresponding with physicians, staff, trainees, and contracted payors
Advanced computer proficiency with fast, accurate data entry and typing skills
Strong time-management and organizational abilities to manage follow-up tasks, monthly closings, and appeals in a timely manner
Serious, accountable, and proactive mindset with a strong understanding of how collections directly impact the viability of a small, for-profit private practice
Self-starter who takes initiative, adapts as issues evolve, and keeps management consistently informed
Friendly, pleasant, and collaborative disposition suited for working closely with the Practice Manager, a co-biller, and an Authorization Coordinator
SCHEDULE, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
Monday-Friday with ability to set schedule: 8:00a-4:30p, 8:30a-5:00p, 9:00a-5:30p, 9:30a-6:00p, or 10:00a-6:30p
$34.00/hr plus incentive (quarterly incentive based off of collections)
