Surgery Coding Auditor (Fully Remote)

Job Description

  • This fully remote position focuses on auditing surgical and procedural coding across multiple healthcare facilities.
  • You will evaluate coding accuracy, documentation support, compliance, and reimbursement implications.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Independently audit surgical coding, validate ICD-10-CM, CPT, HCPCS, modifiers, and bundling assignments.
  • Document findings with authoritative support and contribute to detailed audit reports and corrective-action recommendations.
  • Provide facility-specific coding education and participate in stakeholder discussions and exit conferences.

Qualifications Required:

  • Active RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CPC, or CPC-H credential and at least two years of coding experience.
  • Strong knowledge of surgical coding, documentation requirements, and compliance.
  • U.S. citizenship and ability to pass a Low Risk NACI background investigation.
  • Work independently while collaborating with health information management leadership and facility personnel.
  • Operate securely from an approved location within the United States with protected health information.
