Medical Billing SpecialistA healthcare organization in North Chicago is looking for a Medical Billing Specialist to join its growing team. This is an opportunity to work in a collaborative healthcare environment with a combination of onsite and remote work after training. The Medical Billing Specialist will be responsible for supporting the full medical billing process, including claim preparation, denial follow-up, account research, and patient communication. The ideal candidate will have healthcare billing experience and strong attention to detail. Key responsibilities Review patient accounts and insurance information to ensure claims are accurate and ready for submission. Prepare and process medical claims while identifying missing or incorrect information. Communicate with providers and internal departments to obtain documentation needed to complete or correct claims. Investigate denied and rejected claims and determine appropriate next steps for resolution. Make necessary claim updates, corrections, and follow-up to help ensure timely reimbursement. Respond to patient calls and assist with questions related to billing, claims, and account balances. Maintain accurate billing records and documentation. Follow established billing procedures and payer requirements. Qualifications Previous medical billing experience preferred. Medical Billing and Coding certification is preferred but not required. Experience with Podiatry, Physical Therapy, Behavioral Health, or OB/GYN billing is a strong plus. Knowledge of insurance claims, denials, and reimbursement processes. Strong attention to detail and organizational skills. Excellent communication and customer service abilities. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Candidates should live within approximately 30 minutes of the North Chicago office. Additional details include Approximately one month of onsite training before transitioning to the hybrid schedule. Free onsite parking. Three professional references are required, including at least one former direct supervisor.
