Suburban Hematology Oncology Associates (SHOA) is seeking an experienced CPC-certified Coding Specialist to join our Revenue Cycle team in Lawrenceville, Georgia.

This is an opportunity for an experienced medical coder who values accuracy, compliance, accountability, and collaboration. You'll work closely with physicians, clinical staff, and the coding team to ensure services are coded accurately, documentation supports the services provided, and coding practices remain aligned with current regulatory and payer requirements.

At SHOA, coding is an important part of maintaining a strong oncology practice. Your expertise will help support compliant reimbursement, efficient revenue-cycle operations, and the physicians and clinical teams caring for our patients.

As a Coding Specialist, you will:

• Review medical records and assign accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes in accordance with current coding guidelines and payer requirements.
• Ensure codes are appropriately assigned and sequenced based on documentation, applicable regulations, and insurance requirements.
• Review patient charts and supporting documentation for completeness, accuracy, and coding compliance.
• Identify incomplete, unclear, or inconsistent documentation and collaborate with physicians and appropriate staff to obtain clarification.
• Maintain current knowledge of coding guidelines, payer requirements, federal regulations, and industry updates.
• Review daily coding operations, including backlogs and unsigned charts, and help ensure timely completion of coding activities.
• Perform coding quality reviews and support coding accuracy and compliance.
• Assist with coding audits and audit readiness.
• Work collaboratively with the coding team to monitor workflow and coding progress.
• Support and provide guidance or training to coding team members as needed.
• Apply knowledge of Medicare, commercial insurance, HMOs, PPOs, and other payer requirements to coding activities.
• Help identify coding trends, documentation opportunities, and workflow issues that may affect reimbursement or compliance.
• Maintain accurate records and reports as required.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• Active Certified Professional Coder (CPC) certification in good standing
• 2+ years of professional medical coding experience
• Strong working knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Working knowledge of Medicare and commercial payer requirements
• Ability to review medical documentation for accuracy, completeness, and coding compliance
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to coding accuracy
• Ability to independently manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, clinical staff, and revenue-cycle team members
• Strong computer skills and ability to work effectively within electronic healthcare systems
• Ability to work 100% onsite in Lawrenceville, Georgia

• Hematology and/or oncology coding experience
• 3+ years of professional medical coding experience
• CHONC certification
• Coding audit or quality-review experience
• Previous experience supporting or training other coding professionals
• Experience in a physician practice, specialty clinic, or oncology environment
