Job Description The Certified Billing & Coding Specialist duties include but not limited to: Manage the full billing cycle within Valant, including charge entry, claims, payment posting, and patient billing Manage payer relations, credentialing, authorizations, collections, and claim denials Review documentation and ensure accurate behavioral health ICD-10 and CPT coding Research and resolve denied or delayed claims with insurance payers Monitor clinic KPIs and financial reports to identify trends and revenue opportunities Progress into leadership responsibilities, including training and supervising administrative/billing staff Requirements Active CPC, CCS, CCS-P, or similar recognized coding certification 2+ years of medical billing and coding experience, preferably in mental health, behavioral health, or psychiatry Valant EMR experience strongly preferred Experience with clearinghouses and payer portals Knowledge of BCBS, Aetna, UnitedHealthcare, Cigna, Medicare, TriWest, CHAMPVA, and Community First Strong communication, organizational, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
