Powered by UC Irvine, UCI Health serves 5.6 million people across Orange County, western Riverside County and southeast Los Angeles County through excellence in patient care, research and medical education.ResponsibilitiesThe Biller IV is a Lead/Specialist and serves as a resource to other staff dealing with difficult accounts and needing help with troubleshooting. The Lead and/or Specialist may be assigned to a specialized area of PFS requiring advanced knowledge and will respond to questions from patients, physicians, payers and others to include attorneys regarding the status of accounts. Trains staff and assists supervisor in assessing staff competencies. Gathers productivity statistics and helps identify trends, assisting in the resolution as appropriate. Acts as a liaison between Patient Financial Services and contracted vendors.QualificationsRequired Qualifications:Skilled at using computerized systems and applications to maintain/update patient accounting informationGood math skills to perform a variety of calculations related to patient accountingExcellent communication skills to effectively interact with PFS staff, leaders of the organization, payers, patients and their families and the external communityEffective data and numerical data entry skillsDemonstrated experience in CPT, HCPC and ICD billing codes, authorization requirements and related documentationAdvanced knowledge of revenue cycle processes gained from previous related work experience in a healthcare settingAdvanced knowledge of a variety of non-governmental and governmental payersAbility to train staff and assist in assessing related competency proficiencyAbility to resolve routine and non-routine errors independently and to assist others in problem solvingAbility to facilitate cash collection on patient accountsAbility to be a resource to staff for problematic and difficult accountsPreferred Qualifications:Prior experience as a leadTotal RewardsWe offer a wealth of benefits to make working at UCI even more rewarding.
