Medical Biller Eye Care Specialists is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Medical Biller to join our growing ophthalmology and optometry practice. The ideal candidate will be organized, accurate, and comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.
Responsibilities Submit accurate and timely insurance claims
Review claims for accuracy and proper coding
Follow up on unpaid, rejected, and denied claims
Investigate and resolve billing and payment discrepancies
Post insurance and patient payments
Work insurance accounts receivable and aging reports
Verify insurance eligibility and benefits when needed
Obtain prior authorizations and referrals as assigned
Communicate with insurance companies regarding claim status and reimbursement
Answer patient questions and assist with billing concerns
Maintain accurate documentation and protect patient confidentiality
Collaborate with providers and staff to resolve coding and documentation issues
Qualifications Previous medical billing experience is preferred
Ophthalmology or optometry billing experience is a plus
Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, insurance claims, denials, and appeals
Familiarity with Medicare and commercial insurance plans
Strong attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills
Professional written and verbal communication skills
Ability to prioritize tasks and work independently
Experience with electronic medical records and practice-management systems is preferred
