Coding SpecialistAssigns and sequences codes for complex inpatient, observation, and outpatient surgery encounters according to established regulatory guidelines, industry best practices, and Infirmary Health (IH) policies and procedures. May also be required to assign codes for outpatient and emergency department encounters, as needed.QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:2 years' coding experience in an acute care facilityKnowledge of medical terminology, anatomy & physiologyKnowledge of coding conventions (ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS)Knowledge of CMS coding requirementsComputer proficiency; ability to research coding questions and utilize educational resourcesLicensure, Registration, Certification:Credentialed through American Health Information Management Association in one of the following:Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)Certified Coding Associate (CCA)ORCredentialed through American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC) in one of the following:Certified Outpatient Coder (COC)Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC)Certified Professional Coder (CPC)Desired Qualifications:Associate's degree
