The Yukon-Kuskokwim Health Corporation is a Tribal health care organization, serving nearly 30,000 people living across rural, southwest Alaska in villages with populations from about 10 to more than 1,000. Position Summary: The uncertified coders' duties include the review, confirmation, and application of diagnoses, procedures, and evaluation and management levels into the electronic health record. The uncertified coder will meet productivity and quality assurance standards as assigned. Assignments include common clinic types, such as Outpatient/Ambulatory visits.

Position Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Successfully completed and passed Medical Terminology Course.
  • Successfully completed and passed ICD-9-CM (or equivalent) Course.
  • Successfully completed and passed CPT-4 (or equivalent) Course.
  • At least 6 months experience within Medical Records
  • Must be able to obtain coding certification with AAPC or AHIMA within one year of hire date.
  • Ability to learn the use of applicable health record applications within 30 days of hire date.
  • Ability to type 30 wpm or faster (corrected for errors).
