Inpatient Coder Opportunity

LaSalle Network is partnering with a leading healthcare organization to identify an experienced Inpatient Coder to join their team. This is a great opportunity for a certified coding professional with strong inpatient hospital experience who is looking for a fully remote, contract-to-hire opportunity with long-term potential. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a hospital, academic hospital/medical center, or Level I/Level II Trauma Center and be comfortable coding complex inpatient cases while maintaining a high level of accuracy and compliance.

Inpatient Coder Responsibilities:

  • Perform accurate inpatient medical coding using ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS
  • Review clinical documentation, medical records, and physician notes to assign appropriate diagnosis and procedure codes
  • Analyze complex inpatient cases and identify appropriate principal and secondary diagnoses
  • Assign MS-DRGs and ensure accurate reimbursement
  • Review charts for coding accuracy, completeness, and compliance
  • Identify documentation gaps and collaborate with internal teams as needed
  • Maintain established coding productivity and quality standards
  • Research coding guidelines and stay current with changes to coding regulations and requirements
  • Ensure coding practices align with applicable CMS, AHIMA, and organizational guidelines
  • Work independently in a fully remote environment while meeting productivity and quality expectations

Inpatient Coder Requirements:

  • 2+ years of professional inpatient coding experience
  • Must hold one of the following certifications:
    • CPC – Certified Professional Coder
    • RHIT – Registered Health Information Technician
    • RHIA – Registered Health Information Administrator
    • CCS – Certified Coding Specialist
  • Previous experience working in a hospital or academic hospital/medical center
  • Experience with a Level I or Level II Trauma Center is highly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS
  • Experience coding complex inpatient charts and assigning DRGs
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to coding accuracy
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment
