Job Title: Coder Specialist
The Coder Specialist is responsible for coding emergency room and/or outpatient records.
Job Responsibilities:
- Code emergency room and/or outpatient records.
- Address CCI/medical necessity edits as needed.
- Monitor unbilled records for emergency room/outpatients to ensure all accounts are coded daily.
- Maintain quality and productivity levels of 95% or greater.
- Complete continuing education as required.
- Exercise independent judgment in planning sequence of operations and making minor decisions in a complex technical or professional field.
- Collaborate with internal and external customers via telephone or face-to-face interactions.
- Work alongside other healthcare professionals and staff.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 0-6 months of work experience.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Basic ICD 10 training, anatomy, and physiology.
- Proficiency in PC and software applications.
- Ability to score 80% or above on the outpatient coding exam.
Required Education:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Certification from an accredited coding program and a score of 80% or above on the outpatient coding exam.
Shift Requirements:
- 2 years of orthopedic coding experience.
- Availability during working hours to communicate with the team.
- Proficiency in Excel for data entry.
