Medical Coder / Billing Specialist Pay: $27.00–$30.00/hr Location: Salem, OR Schedule: Full-Time | Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM Position Type: Temporary Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented Medical Coder / Billing Specialist to join a busy healthcare team. This role focuses on accurate coding, regulatory compliance, and supporting the revenue cycle. This is an immediate opening with equipment arriving soon and a quick start expected. Key Responsibilities Assign accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes based on provider documentation. Review patient charts for completeness, accuracy, and coding compliance. Ensure coding meets payer, Medicare/Medicaid, and regulatory guidelines. Identify undercoding, overcoding, missing charges, and documentation discrepancies. Collaborate with providers to obtain clarification when documentation is incomplete or unclear. Support claim denial management and resolve coding-related billing issues. Maintain confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations. Qualifications Current CPC (Certified Professional Coder) certification through AAPC or an AHIMA coding credential (such as CCS or CCS-P) is required. Certification must be active and in good standing. 1–3 years of medical coding and/or medical billing experience preferred. Prior data entry experience in a healthcare setting preferred. Strong knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding systems. Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy, and healthcare documentation.
