ICD-9 and ICD-10 Inpatient/Outpatient Coding PositionPosition is responsible for ICD-9 and ICD-10 Inpatient/Outpatient coding of diagnosis and procedures. When reviewing documentation must be able to interact with all medical and clinical staff. Primary Position Responsibilities:Codes and abstracts inpatient/outpatient records using ICD-10Queries medical/clinical staff for clarification of documentationUses 3M360 computer assisted coding program for coding and tracking queriesMeets daily productivity standards, along with meeting Team Goal for DNFC (Discharge Not Final Coded)Maintains current CCS certification and/ or RHITQualifications:Minimum Education: Required: High School Diploma or EquivalentMust have Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) and/or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)Preferred: Associate’s DegreeMinimum Years of Experience (Amount, Type and Variation): Required: Minimum 2-3 years coding experiencePreferred: Minimum 2-3 years of hospital coding experienceLicense, Registry or Certification: Required: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) and/or Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)Preferred: NoneKnowledge, Skills and/or Abilities: Required: Proficient in ICD-9 and ICD-10, DRG Assignment, CPT-4 coding.
