Billing & Collections Coordinator

East Meadow, NY | Full-Time | In Office | Salary Based on Experience

We are looking for a hardworking and dependable Billing & Collections Coordinator to join our team. The right candidate should have at

least 3 years of experience with No-Fault, Workers' Compensation, and Commercial Insurance billing. Experience with Durable Medical

Equipment (DME) is preferred.

Applicants must live within 25 miles of East Meadow, NY.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Review patient accounts to make sure information is correct before billing.

• Verify insurance, policy and claim information, billing addresses, and patient eligibility.

• Handle charge entry, payment posting, collections, and accounts receivable (A/R).

• Follow up with insurance companies on unpaid, denied, or underpaid claims.

• Handle prior authorizations, denials, corrections, and reconsiderations.

• Communicate with doctors' offices, attorneys, insurance companies, and patients.

• Work with defense attorneys and insurance adjusters on settlements and payment arrangements.

• Track accounts sent to arbitration or litigation.

• Identify notes or documents that need corrections and send them to the Manager for review.

• Post payments and report declined charges to management.

• Run weekly and monthly billing reports and learn our billing software.

• Protect patient information and follow HIPAA rules.

• Help with other billing projects and office duties when needed.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

• At least 3 years of No-Fault, Workers' Compensation, and Commercial billing experience.

• Knowledge of Workers' Compensation forms and guidelines, including C-4s and MG-2s.

• Understanding of EOBs, CPT codes, and ICD-10 codes.

• Knowledge of the Workers' Compensation appeals process.

• Experience with Commercial/HMO insurance, Medicare, and Medicaid.

• Knowledge of legal documents and insurance-related claims.

• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage several tasks at once.

• Good written and verbal communication skills.

• Comfortable working independently with strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office.

• Strong problem-solving and follow-up skills.

• Persistent and willing to keep working on a claim until an issue is resolved.

Schedule:

Monday to Friday 8:30am - 4:30pm

Summer Fridays: 8:30pm - 4pm
