We're looking for an experienced Specialty Physician Coder to join a growing Coding Compliance team, remote, with real variety in your day-to-day work.Why coders like this role:Fully remote (must reside in Southern California)M-F, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, a schedule you can actually plan your life around3 to 6 month assignment with strong potential to extendReal variety: office, hospital, surgical, inpatient, and outpatient coding, not the same claim type on repeatDirect collaboration with physicians and revenue cycle teams, not buried in a queueA seat at the table for coding compliance and documentation improvement initiativesWhat you'll be doing:Reviewing physician documentation and assigning accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codesCoding office visits, hospital encounters, outpatient and inpatient services, and surgical or procedure reportsResolving coding related claim denials and editsWorking weekly Missing Charge Reports to catch missed billable servicesProviding coding education and guidance directly to physicians and clinical staffPartnering with billing, insurance, and customer service teams to resolve issuesPrepping materials for specialty provider meetings and following up on action itemsWhat you bring:At least 3 years of medical coding experience in a hospital or physician office settingAt least 1 year of specialty coding experience in one or more of: Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Medical Hematology/Oncology, OBGYN, Pulmonology, General Surgery, or Radiation OncologyExpert knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codingComfort working directly with physicians on coding and documentation questionsStrong analytical skills and sharp attention to detailProficiency with Microsoft Office and experience using Epic EMRActive CPC (AAPC) or CCS (AHIMA) certification requiredNice to have: Specialty coding certifications such as CCC, CGIC, or CGSC.If this sounds like the kind of role where your specialty experience actually gets used, not just your general coding skills, let's talk.
