Company Description The Talcott Center for Child Development is a privately owned therapy center supporting children with special needs and their families. The center offers occupational, physical, and speech therapy, a comprehensive autism program, and Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services for individuals from birth through 21 years of age. Clinicians are experienced in working with a wide range of diagnoses, including Autism, Sensory Processing Disorder, and developmental delays. In addition to individual and group services, the center provides parent education, consultation, evaluations, and referrals to outside resources as needed. Role Description The Senior Medical Billing and Coding Specialist is a full-time, on-site role based in Farmington, CT. This position is responsible for accurately coding therapy and ABA services, preparing and submitting insurance claims, and ensuring compliance with payer and regulatory requirements. The specialist will review clinical documentation, verify insurance benefits, process payments and adjustments, and follow up on denied or rejected claims to resolve issues promptly. Daily tasks include reconciling accounts, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of billing rules for pediatric and developmental services, and generating reports related to revenue cycle performance. The role also involves collaborating with clinicians, administrative staff, and families to clarify billing questions, support transparent communication, and contribute to efficient practice operations. Qualifications Demonstrated expertise in medical billing and coding for outpatient or therapy services, including CPT, ICD-10, and HCPCS codes. Strong knowledge of insurance claim submission, payment posting, denial management, and revenue cycle processes. Proficiency with practice management or billing software, electronic health records (EHR), and general computer skills (e.g., Excel, email systems). Attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks while meeting deadlines. Clear written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain billing information to families and collaborate with clinical teams. Understanding of HIPAA, privacy regulations, and payer compliance requirements, especially in pediatric and behavioral health settings. Previous experience in medical billing and coding in a therapy, pediatric, or behavioral health environment; supervisory or senior-level experience preferred. Certification in medical billing and/or coding (e.g., CPC, CCS, or equivalent) and a high school diploma; associate or bacheloregree in a related field is a plus.
