Job Description

Inpatient DRG CoderAssigns and sequences codes for complex inpatient DRG encounters according to established regulatory guidelines, industry best practices, and Infirmary Health (IH) policies and procedures. May also be required to assign codes for outpatient surgery and observation encounters as needed.QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:3 years' coding experience in an acute care facilityKnowledge of medical terminology, anatomy & physiologyKnowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS coding conventionsKnowledge of CMS coding requirementsComputer proficiency; ability to research coding questions and utilize educational resourcesLicensure, Registration, Certification:Credentialed through American Health Information Management Association in one of the following:Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT)Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA)Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)ORCredentialed through American Academy of Professional Coders (AAPC)Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC)Desired Qualifications:Associate's Degree Desired Licensure/Registration, Certification: Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)
