The MT Supervisor serves as the General Supervisor as defined by CLIA-88 Federal Regulations. MT Supervisor Responsibilities Supervision of specimen acquisition, transport, computer staff, and technical areas. Monitoring staffing by reviewing schedules to detect staffing problems and managing personnel breaks and meal periods. Maintaining effective communication within and between shifts. Monitoring the quality of service on evening and night shifts. Assisting in the evaluation of personnel in concert with Section Managers and Medical Staff. Assisting the Education Coordinator with in‑servicing personnel on the evening shift. Ensuring efficient use of hospital resources and supplementing technical staff at the bench when appropriate. Notifying the laboratory administrator, section managers, and pathologists of unusual problems. Enforcing laboratory and hospital personnel policies and coordinating disaster situations. Orienting staff and evaluating personnel for clinical ladder promotions. Troubleshooting problems in the technical departments. Monitoring workplace safety and liaising with the safety committee. Managing complaints from nursing and medical staff about pathology services and communicating them to the laboratory administrator and management staff. Handling selected computer operation functions as necessary. Minimum Requirements BS degree or higher in Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology, or a biological, chemical, or physical science from an accredited institution. A BS degree with a combination of 30 semester hours in biology and chemistry, obtained within or in addition to the degree, is also acceptable. 4 years of experience in a clinical laboratory as a Medical Laboratory Scientist. Certification as MLS, BB, C, H or MB by ASCP or another nationally recognized certifying agency. Other Information 40 hours per week Wednesday - Tuesday (9:30 pm - 7:30 am) Required to work a rotational schedule of 7 days on / 7 days off.
