Whats A Typical Day As A Medical Biller? Youll Be:
- Reviewing medical claims and transmitting them to insurance carriers using an electronic health records (EHR) system and clearing house.
- Monitoring rejected claims, making necessary adjustments, and resubmitting for approval.
- Downloading explanation of payments to post claim payments and denials in the EHR system.
- Researching denied and open claim balances, correcting errors, and resubmitting within carrier guidelines.
- Utilizing insurance carrier websites and direct communication to investigate claim denials and status.
- Partnering with the clearing house to distribute patient billing statements and monitor the patient portal for payments.
- Initiating overpayment refunds to patients and repayments to carriers, as required.
- Serving as the primary point of contact for vision and medical claims within the practice.
- Supporting the corporate manager to maximize claim collection rates.
This Job Might Be An Outstanding Fit If You:
- Have a high school diploma and at least 3 years of related experience in medical billing and coding (5 years strongly preferred).
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a dynamic environment.
- Exhibit effective communication skillsverbal, written, listening, and presentation.
- Can prioritize issues efficiently and solve problems independently.
- Have experience working in multiple doctor practices (preferred).
- Possess knowledge of requirements for multiple insurance carriers and proven ability to identify and resolve billing issues.
