Specialty Physician Coder | Remote (Southern California)
Contract 3-6+ Months Have your specialty coding skills, but tired of feeling like a number? We're looking for an experienced Specialty Physician Coder to join a growing Coding Compliance team, remote, with real variety in your day-to-day work.

What you'll be doing: - Reviewing physician documentation and assigning accurate ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes
- Coding office visits, hospital encounters, outpatient and inpatient services, and surgical or procedure reports
- Resolving coding related claim denials and edits
- Working weekly Missing Charge Reports to catch missed billable services
- Providing coding education and guidance directly to physicians and clinical staff
- Partnering with billing, insurance, and customer service teams to resolve issues
- Prepping materials for specialty provider meetings and following up on action items
What you bring: - At least 3 years of medical coding experience in a hospital or physician office setting
- At least 1 year of specialty coding experience in one or more of: Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Medical Hematology/Oncology, OBGYN, Pulmonology, General Surgery, or Radiation Oncology
- Expert knowledge of ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding
- Comfort working directly with physicians on coding and documentation questions
- Strong analytical skills and sharp attention to detail
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience using Epic EMR
- Active CPC (AAPC) or CCS (AHIMA) certification required
Nice to have: Specialty coding certifications such as CCC, CGIC, or CGSC.
