Assistant Billing Manager

Job Description

NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION.

You'd be the second-in-command of the billing operation for a multi-location dermatology and plastic surgery practice across Central Florida. There is volume and complexity — Mohs, path, grafts, biologics, modifier-heavy procedural billing. The position location is in the MetroWest area of Orlando, FL.

WHAT YOU'LL WORK

- Denials and appeals — you set the triage order by filing deadline, recoverability, and dollar value, and you work the high-dollar and aged ones yourself
- A/R on assigned payers and aging buckets, plus the weekly aging, denial, and productivity reporting leadership actually reads
- Payment posting oversight, reconciliation, and credit balance resolution
- Daily work queue assignment across the billing team
- Patient balance follow-up and payment plan administration
- Training new billers, answering the day-to-day questions, and running the department when the Billing Manager is out

You'll work the hardest claims yourself — the high-dollar appeals, the aged ones nobody else could crack. This isn't a seat where you stop touching claims and start approving timecards.

WHAT YOU NEED

- 3+ years in medical billing with real depth in denials and appeals
- Time as a lead, senior biller, or assistant manager
- Strong practice management/EHR skills on any major platform
- You can read a fee schedule against an EOB and explain the variance
- You're comfortable correcting another biller's work and telling them why

WHAT HELPS

- Dermatology, plastic surgery, or another procedural specialty
- Multi-location experience
- CPB, CPC, or comparable credential
