Job Summary: The Medical Billing Specialist is responsible for accurately entering medical charges, verifying patient insurance information, and ensuring timely claim submission. This role requires a strong understanding of medical coding guidelines and attention to detail to support efficient revenue cycle operations. Required Experience: Minimum of 3 years of medical billing experience Strong working knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding In-depth understanding of medical coding guidelines and practices Proficient in reviewing and analyzing operative reports for accurate coding Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Key Responsibilities: Verify insurance coverage for all patient encounters Update patient demographics and insurance information in Nextech Send non-participating letters to new patients seen by the practice (hospital or office) Accurately enter all charges in a timely manner Analyze operative reports and abstract information accurately for coding purposes Maintain and update EMR and “Scheduled Not Billed” reports to ensure timely claim submission Complete all workers’ compensation and no-fault forms with accuracy Review and run daily charge entry reports to ensure accuracy and completeness Assist with other billing-related tasks as required Education/Certifications: High School Diploma or GED required Associate Degree in Medical Billing, Health Information Management, or related field preferred CPC – Certified Professional Coder (through the American Academy of Professional Coders) preferred WHAT WE OFFER: Comprehensive Health Benefits: Medical, Dental, and Vision Coverage.
