We are seeking a Medical Billing Specialist to support accurate claim submission, timely billing follow-up, and professional communication with families and funding sources. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys detail-oriented work, understands healthcare billing processes, and is committed to providing exceptional customer service while maintaining compliance and accuracy.


Hours: Full-time, first shift
Working Days: Monday through Friday
Hours per Week: 40 hours per week


What You Will Do

  • Verify insurance eligibility and confirm coverage prior to services when needed
  • Coordinate with payers to obtain prior authorizations and approvals
  • Submit claims to Medicaid, commercial insurance carriers, and other funding sources through electronic billing systems
  • Review claim status and follow up with payers to resolve claim rejections, denials, and documentation issues
  • Partner with clinical and administrative teams to ensure documentation supports accurate claim submission
  • Respond professionally to billing inquiries from families regarding coverage, balances, and payment responsibilities
  • Maintain accurate billing records and assist with reporting and reconciliation activities
  • Occasionally travel to local satellite offices as needed


Preferred

  • Associate degree
  • Experience using electronic medical billing platforms
  • Knowledge of Ohio Medicaid billing guidelines
  • Experience working in a nonprofit, behavioral health, therapy, or pediatric healthcare setting

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Medical billing experience, including claim submission and payer follow-up
  • Knowledge of Medicaid and commercial insurance billing processes
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft Office
  • Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams
