Essential Functions Assign codes using ICD‑10‑CM and maintain a 95% coding accuracy threshold.
Review patient charts and documents for accuracy, identify discrepancies, and follow up with providers.
Query physicians for clarification to ensure coding accuracy and specificity.
Stay current on coding, diagnostic procedures, and federal legislative changes.
Comply with HIPAA to protect patient confidentiality.
Complete required trainings as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements 3 years medical coding experience or a coding certification (AHIMA or AAPC) required.
Rehabilitation coding experience preferred.
Associate's degree in a related field preferred.
Current knowledge of CPT and ICD‑10 coding principles, government regulations, protocols, and third‑party payer requirements.
Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
Knowledge of state and federal regulatory guidelines for reimbursement and prospective payment systems.
Physical Requirements During a shift: significant sitting and reaching; lifting or exerting up to 10 lbs.; sufficient manual dexterity to operate equipment and computer keyboard; good near vision and ability to focus; ability to hear overhead pages.
