Introduction
The Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention and Policy serves as a coordinating office that advises the Governor on criminal justice strategies. The office plans, promotes, and funds efforts with government entities, private organizations, and the community to advance public policy, enhance public safety, reduce crime and juvenile delinquency, and serve victims.
Responsibilities
Assist the Audit Director with agency’s audit and compliance functions; ensure fiduciary and regulatory responsibilities are met for grant operations.
Maintain an audit schedule, conduct entry/exit conferences with internal stakeholders, sub‑recipients, and other third‑party organizations.
Manage financial audits, support desk reviews, site visits, etc.; prepare audit reports, administer risk‑based scoring model of sub‑recipients, resolve audit discrepancies, and address appeal matters as needed.
Assist with periodic audit inquiries from both internal and external stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
Experience: Six years of administrative staff or professional work.
Notes
Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience.
Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the required experience.
Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures, and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commission.
Desired or Preferred Qualifications
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting from an accredited college or university or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with 30 credit hours in Accounting and supplemented by 3 credit hours in auditing.
Two years of experience performing financial and compliance audits of a State or federal agency, grantee, business or other entity.
