Job Description
J. Morrissey is partnering with a large, respected medical group in Farmington, CT to identify an experienced Medical Coding Specialist. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned coding professional who thrives in a fast-paced healthcare environment and has extensive knowledge of medical coding, reimbursement, and billing procedures.
Position Summary
The Medical Coding Specialist is responsible for performing highly technical coding of medical records to ensure accurate reimbursement and compliance with coding regulations. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to research and implement appropriate billing procedures while maintaining coding accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Perform highly technical coding of physician and medical records for accurate reimbursement.
- Assign ICD-10 and CPT-4 codes based on clinical documentation.
- Review medical documentation to ensure coding accuracy and completeness.
- Research coding guidelines, payer requirements, and billing procedures.
- Collaborate with providers and billing staff to resolve coding discrepancies.
- Maintain compliance with federal regulations, payer guidelines, and organizational policies.
- Stay current on coding updates and industry best practices.
Qualifications
- Minimum 4 years of experience in a physician's office, hospital, or medical billing/insurance setting.
- Extensive knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT-4 coding systems.
- Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy, and reimbursement methodologies.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
