Inpatient Rehab Hospital Coder
The Inpatient Rehab Hospital Coder works from home and is responsible for identifying correct coding and sequencing of ICD-10-CM diagnosis and comorbidity codes on the claim form and IRF-PAI for the Hospital's inpatient population. Responsibilities include:
- Ensuring that documentation to substantiate code assignment is present in the medical record
- Completing coding and abstracting of inpatient medical records in accordance with ICD-10 CM coding rules and guidelines
- Querying physicians when documentation is unclear for coding purposes
- Entering codes into the medical record and outcome system to ensure IRF-PAI and claim will submit timely.
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Two years of medical coding experience- IRF experience preferred
- Medical Coding certification- CPC, CCS, CMC or equivalent
