Type of Recruitment We welcome applications from anyone. Responsibilities Plans and coordinates departmental audits. Conducts financial, compliance, and operational audits and accounting system reviews. Coordinates with external auditors. Conducts internal investigations of suspected fraud through the County Fraud Hotline. Evaluates and recommends improvements to accounting systems and internal controls. Prepares written audit reports and management communications. Qualifications A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in accounting or a closely related field, including 21 semester units or 31.5 quarter units of accounting courses and a course in auditing, is required. Applicants must meet one of the following options: Option I: Two years of professional auditing experience at the level of the County class of Intermediate Accountant-Auditor. Option II: Three years of professional accounting experience. License and Physical Class License: A valid California Class C Driver License is required, or an alternative method of transportation must be available for essential functions. Physical Class: Light – Light administrative and clerical positions requiring occasional lifting up to 10 pounds and some bending, stooping, or squatting. Exam Content Part I: Multiple Choice and Simulation Assessment – weighted at 60% – measuring the following competencies: Professional Potential Achievement Working Relationships Analyzing Information Learning Quickly Generating New Ideas Using Time Efficiently Working to High Quality Standards Adapting to Change Coping with Uncertainty Willingness to Learn Responsibility Part II: Technical Writing Assessment – weighted at 40% – measuring technical knowledge in the following areas: Professional/Technical Knowledge of Auditing Standards and Practices Risk Assessment and Internal Control Knowledge Analytical and Problem-Solving Ability Attention to Detail and Accuracy Planning and Organizational Skills Written Communication Professional Judgment and Decision-Making Applicants must meet all qualifications and achieve 70% or higher on the combined score of Part I and Part II to be placed on the eligible list. Eligibility and Vacancy Information Applicants who pass the assessment are placed on a list for a period of 12 months. The list will be used to fill vacancies in Public Works as they occur.
