Summary
Under the direction of the Coding Compliance Manager, the Specialty Physician Coder is responsible for reviewing and accurately coding office, hospital, and surgical/procedures for reimbursement and ensuring accurate and compliant medical coding for inpatient and outpatient services, diagnostic tests, and other medical services rendered to patients. The role also involves analyzing coding trends, identifying irregularities and collaborating with stakeholders to implement improvements.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
Proficient in Epic software.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
Detail oriented, anticipating, researching, and resolving problems.
Strong understanding of the healthcare revenue cycle.
Excellent communication skills; able to convey information accurately to clinical partners and business center teams.
Provide customer service handling moderate email and phone inquiries.
Collaborate effectively with team members and adapt to changing environment.
Maintain professional demeanor, confidentiality, and safe work area.
Strong work ethic, honesty, and dependability.
Manage time efficiently, be punctual, and prioritize tasks.

Qualifications
3+ years experience as a medical coder in a hospital or physician office.
1+ year specialty coding in Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Hematology/Oncology, OBGYN, Pulmonology, General Surgery, or Radiation Oncology.
Expert knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS.
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.
Epic software experience highly desired.
High School diploma or GED required.
CPC, CCS, or equivalent certification required.
Specialty coding certification highly desired.

Pay
$33.79/hr - $49.00/hr (placement based on experience and qualifications).
