Overview Insight Global’s client is seeking a Certified Professional Coder to support a growing plastic and reconstructive surgery practice in Red Bank, NJ. This role is ideal for a coder who enjoys complex surgical coding, collaborating with clinical and billing teams, and helping ensure accurate, timely claim submission. The team is looking for someone who is detail-oriented, adaptable, and comfortable coding from operative reports and physician documentation. This is a great opportunity for a coder who enjoys complex surgical coding, working closely with clinical teams, and contributing to process improvement in a fast-paced specialty practice. Day-to-Day Responsibilities Code surgical procedures, operative reports, office visits, and in-office procedures using CPT and ICD-10. Perform true scratch coding for operative reports and surgical slips rather than basic review-only coding. Review physician documentation and identify any missing or unclear information needed for accurate coding. Communicate documentation clarification needs through physician logs and internal workflows. Support timely claim submission by helping reduce charge lag and backlog. Work through daily coding queues that may include surgical slips, operative reports, denials, and related documentation. Use coding and billing systems to enter codes, support claim submission, and assist with denial-related follow-up. Maintain accurate daily logs of completed work, including operative reports, surgical slips, denials, and other coding activity. Adapt to changing workflows, physician documentation processes, and department priorities. Compensation: $25 to $28 per hour. Required Skills and Experience Active coding certification such as CPC, CPC-A, CCS, or equivalent. 1–2+ years of medical coding experience, ideally with surgical coding exposure. Strong understanding of CPT and ICD-10 coding. Ability to code from operative reports and physician documentation. Comfortable working in Excel, including adding to logs, sorting/filtering, and tracking daily work. Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently while still contributing to a team environment. Flexible, resilient, and comfortable with changing processes and shifting priorities. NICE TO HAVE SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE Plastic surgery, reconstructive surgery, dermatology, oral surgery, or ophthalmology coding experience. Experience with Practice Plus, CoderPro, Availity, NexTech, Encoder Pro, or TriZetto. Prior experience coding facility or institutional billing claims.
