The successful candidate will be responsible for assigning codes to medical procedures, diagnoses, and treatments, ensuring the accuracy and compliance with established coding standards and regulatory bodies.

Job Details
Responsibilities:
Accurately assign ICD-10 and CPT codes to medical procedures, diagnoses, and treatments in accordance with industry standards and regulatory guidelines.
Review patient medical records to extract pertinent data and ensure the accuracy of coding.
Utilize Athena EHR or equivalent software to enter, update, and maintain coding information.
Communicate effectively with physicians and other healthcare professionals to clarify diagnoses or to obtain additional information.
Regularly audit coding and billing data for accuracy and compliance, identifying any discrepancies and taking corrective action as necessary.
Stay abreast of the latest updates and changes in medical coding standards and regulations.
Provide training and guidance to other staff members on coding practices and procedures as needed.
Collaborate with the billing department to ensure that coded data is correctly utilized for billing purposes.
Qualifications:
A minimum of 3 years of experience in inpatient medical coding is required.
Proficiency in Athena EHR is preferred.
Certification as a Professional Coder (CPC) or a Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) is required.
Excellent attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy in data entry and coding.
Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
Strong understanding of ICD-10-PCS coding standards and regulations is required.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with physicians and other healthcare professionals.
Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and correct coding errors.
Ability to stay up-to-date with changes in medical coding standards and regulations.
Strong customer facing experience.
