Job Description

Job Summary The Coding Specialist will provide CPT, HCPCS, and ICD‑10‑CM coding for Outpatient Facility Same‑Day Surgeries. The position requires 2-3 years of experience and observations experience. The role is remote; the employee must work from home and be independent in coding skills. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provide various components of coding services to support clients. Calculate ProFee and/or Facility E/M levels using the company’s algorithm. Recognize critical care cases by patient acuity. Code surgical procedures typical of an ER setting to capture additional revenue when appropriate. Apply ICD‑10‑CM diagnosis codes at the highest level of specificity available. Accurately assign diagnosis and procedure codes using ICD‑10‑CM, ICD‑10‑PCS, CPT®, and HCPCS. Interpret coding guidelines for accurate code assignment. Assess the impact of documentation on code assignment and reimbursement. Act in accordance with AHIMA’s Standards of Ethical Coding and the Company’s Code of Ethics and Business Conduct, and support the Company’s Ethics and Compliance Program. Comply with all internal policies and procedures. Actively participate in company-provided training and education. Maintain at least one credential through either AAPC or AHIMA. Ensure compliance with all privacy and security rules and protect confidential information, including Personal Health Information. Minimum Qualifications and Requirements All coders must be certified through either the AAPC (CPC or COC) or AHIMA (CCS or CCS‑P). CCA, CPC‑A not accepted. Minimum of 2 years of on-the-job experience in SDS and OBS. Reliable attendance required. Working knowledge and experience with systems such as EMR, Billing, etc. Must have a phone, reliable internet connection, and current coding materials such as CPT and ICD‑10‑CM references. Maintain an ongoing productivity level and accuracy rate of 95% or higher. Maintain a quality score of 95% or higher. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook (basic formulas, email management, scheduling). Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to coordinate, analyze, observe, make decisions, and meet deadlines. May be required to perform other duties as assigned by the Leadership Team Member. Physical Demands Requires regular eye‑hand coordination and manual dexterity. Ability to operate a computer terminal for 6‑8 hours daily and use office equipment. Occasional lifting of materials up to 20 lbs. Ability to work through periods of elevated stress and multiple deadlines. #J-18808-Ljbffr
