The Patient Financial Services Coder is responsible for review of Clinical and Hospital documentation for accurate coding and posting of clinical and hospital charges. Coders are also responsible for effectively and professionally corresponding with internal staff, patients or third-party payors to provide resolution of questions or facilitate timely and effective communication with outside entities.
Responsibilities
Prepares and enters clinical charges.
Processes self-pay account activity.
Consistently exhibits all Moses Lake Community Health Center's Service Standards with patients while responding to inquiries regarding accounts and statements.
Attends the group Provider training session and assists in training Providers as required by task assignment.
Requirements
Possesses a basic level of written and verbal communication skills, computational and computer skills and mathematical knowledge typically acquired through completion of a high school program.
Job duties require specific knowledge and training in billing and coding, typically acquired during completion of a (certificate or license program) in Certified Professional Coder with a duration of up to one year.
CPC (Certified Professional Coder) Certification.
Ability to read and speak Spanish and/or Russian preferred but not required.
