About this Role
The Maintenance (MX) Compliance Auditor provides independent oversight of Northern Jet’s maintenance processes, training, and operational compliance systems in accordance with internal and external audit programs. This position performs system assurance auditing, ensuring that maintenance activities, documentation, and training programs are conducted in accordance with:
FAA regulations (14 CFR Part 135, Pt5, Pt 43 and Pt 91)
Company manuals (GMM, Mx SOPs, Line SOP’s, OpSpecs, CASS, Mx Training Programs)
Approved procedures and internal policies
The Auditor does not perform maintenance, manage maintenance personnel, or implement corrective actions. Instead, the role objectively evaluates whether organizational processes function as designed and documents areas of non‑compliance, risk, or procedural drift. The position supports the company’s Safety Management System (SMS) and Continuous Analysis and Surveillance System (CASS) and performs structured internal/external auditing and hazard reporting.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Maintenance Compliance Auditing
Conduct independent audits of maintenance processes, including
Return-to-Service (RTS) documentation accuracy
Logbook and maintenance record compliance
Adherence to the General Maintenance Manual (GMM)
MEL/CDL control and deferral procedures
Vendor and contract maintenance oversight
Parts traceability and life‑limited component control
Identify where actual practices differ from approved procedures
CASS & System Effectiveness Audits
Evaluate the effectiveness of the Maintenance CASS program by auditing
Capture of required operational data
Tracking of repeat discrepancies
Trend monitoring processes
Root cause analysis documentation
Corrective action tracking
Evidence of corrective action effectiveness
Note: The Auditor audits the system, not the maintenance work itself
Training & Qualification Audits
Audit maintenance training programs for compliance, collaborating with the Maintenance Training Manager to confirm records, qualifications, and alignment with approved manuals
Initial and recurrent training completion
Training records accuracy
Qualification and currency tracking
Alignment between approved training programs and actual execution
SMS Safety Assurance Support
Serve as part of the Safety Assurance function by
Performing scheduled and risk‑based audits
Identifying systemic hazards or compliance gaps
Supporting Safety Review Board reporting
Providing objective safety performance data
Manual & Procedural Compliance Reviews
Audit organizational adherence to
General Maintenance Manual (GMM)
Company policies and SOPs
OpSpecs requirements
Manual revision control and distribution
Detect procedural drift between written policy and real‑world execution
Audit Documentation & Reporting
Document findings clearly and objectively
Classify findings (Observation / Finding / Critical Finding)
Reference applicable regulations or manuals
Prepare audit reports for the Director of Safety and leadership
Track closure status of corrective actions
The Auditor documents and verifies — department leadership owns accountability and corrective action
Audit Program Execution
Execute audits in accordance with the company’s 24‑month risk‑based audit schedule, including Maintenance and Operations functional areas
Required Qualifications
Experience in Part 135 and/or Part 145 maintenance environment
Strong working knowledge of FAA regulatory structure
Familiarity with General Maintenance Manuals (GMM)
Understanding of SMS and CASS principles
Experience with maintenance records, airworthiness documentation & auditing
Strong analytical and documentation skills
Ability to communicate findings professionally and objectively
Ability to operate in a fast‑paced, real‑time operational environment
Preferred Qualifications
A&P Certificate (preferred but not required)
Quality Assurance or Internal Auditor experience
SMS training or auditing experience
Prior FAA, QA, or compliance auditing background
