Job Description: Accurately assign appropriate ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes to outpatient records
Abstract essential data elements for tracking, reporting, and reimbursement
Keying, billing and collections for assigned client databases
Review and analyze medical records for document deficiencies
Communicate proactively with providers, staff, leadership and hospital departments
Follow up on accounts on hold and ensure accurate abstracting of clinical data
Verify accuracy of patient account and demographic data
Meet productivity standards set forth by Revenue Integrity Coding department
Participate in continuing education activities
Requirements: At least one year of professional coding work experience
Hold a nationally recognized coding certificate (CCA, CCS, CPC or AAPC)
Knowledge and understanding of ICD 10 CM and CPT 4 coding guidelines and practices
Excellent organizational skills and detail-oriented
Critical thinking skills and ability to set priorities
Commit to working in a team environment and maintaining confidentiality
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal skills to manage sensitive situations
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new software
