The Missouri Dept. of Agriculture's Grain Regulatory Services Program licenses and regulates grain warehouses and grain dealers in Missouri, offering a means of protection to Missouri's grain producers in case of warehouse or grain dealer insolvency. Any person or business must have a valid grain dealer license as well as any grain elevator in Missouri that stores grain for others.
Employees in this program provide safety to Missouri Farmers by promoting stable, reliable commercial grain industry.
The salary indicated represents the current regular pay rate for this position. If the individual selected is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., Years of Service), it will be added to total compensation on their paycheck. A pay differential does not raise base pay.
Responsibilities - What you'll do
Examine grain company business records and facilities, conduct interviews to determine whether a Missouri Grain Warehouse or Grain Dealer licensee is following state and federal statutes and regulations
Prepare and submit investigation and audit findings using laptop computer and associated software.
Conduct physical inventories of stored grain(s) which require the ability to adapt to and work in an environment that will periodically include factors such as noise, foul air, grain dust, inclement weather, extreme heights and moving machinery
Act as lead auditor to resolve crisis issues and routine cases posing significant concern to Missouri Grain Producers
Participate in the work of the highest professional level and lead a team of auditors
Review audits and ensure compliance and quality of the team's work
Work within the management team to create and implement measurable efficiencies in state government
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees, grain businesses, other professionals in the grain trade industry and the public
Employee supervision including hire recommendations, training, planning and assigning work, performance assessment, coaching, and progressive discipline
Supervision at this level also requires employees to have the knowledge and skills to perform and review the work overseen
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications - All you need for success
Minimum Qualifications:
Valid Missouri Driver's License
Six (6) years or more of professional or technical experience in accounting, auditing, bookkeeping, business, public administration or in a closely related area. Experience can come from a combination of direct work experience and/or completion of a relevant post-secondary degree
Other Qualifications:
Advanced knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective supervision and training
Experience in interpretation and enforcement of Missouri Grain Dealer and Grain Warehouse Statutes
Skill in adapting to new and changing situations and regulations
Ability to manage multiple auditing projects and oversee staff engaged in auditing activities
Desire to create and implement cost and or time saving measures to gain measurable efficiencies in GRS Program
Individuals in this position must be reliable, self-motivated, and have good verbal and written communication skills
Four to six years of relevant work experience in the grain industry preferred
Lack of post-secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration to any applicant.
