Job Description Responsibilities River Point Behavioral Health, a subsidiary of UHS, is a 100‑bed treatment facility located in Jacksonville, FL that specializes in the successful treatment of substance abuse and mental health issues for youth, adults and seniors. Position: PRN Certified Coder (CPC) Coder/HIM Specialist analyzes and abstracts clinical data by assigning codes from patient records in accordance with coding classification systems. Reviews patient encounters, queries physicians when needed, and identifies and reports issues. Assigns ICD‑CM codes, creates DRG group assignments. Ensures that codes are accurate and relevant to the patient encounter. Codes inpatient, partial hospitalization, and outpatient charts. Prepares and submits charts required for Precyse Medicare audits. HIM Specialist / Physician Liaison is responsible for assembly and analysis of discharge medical records. Reviews records for completeness, accuracy and compliance with regulations. Compiles, processes, and maintains records in a manner consistent with medical, administrative, ethical, legal, and regulatory requirements. Maintains filing of medical records and assists with Release of Information. Maintains and operates a variety of health records indexes and retrieval systems. Assists the HIM Director in training and supervising interns and staff. Responsible for daily transcription duties which may include printing from precision transcription electronic system, corrections, observing and noting date and time in dictation reports, delivering to the unit and ensuring accurate medical record. Maintains and preserves daily electronic reports (e.g., MIDAS, MS4, Excel, P‑Scribe, HCS) of psychiatric evaluations, health & physicals, and discharge summaries for the Health Information Management department in line with policies, procedures and compliance rates. Sustains daily, weekly, monthly communication of dictation requirements with physicians via courtesy notifications to ensure departmental regulation compliance. Upholds a positive rapport with all physicians, assists them when needed, and cross‑trains with other staff to ensure efficient workflow. Qualifications Must have coding certification by AHIMA. Must have prior supervisory experience. Minimum of 2 years experience working in the Medical Records field. High school diploma or GED; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
