In this important role, you help manage inmate health records and ensure the information is organized, correct, and secure. Responsibilities Staff Supervision: Manage assignments, review work, train staff, and set goals for the medical records unit Record Maintenance: Organize and monitor health records, code medical information, and ensure documentation meets all standards File Management: File, issue, transfer, and prepare records for court needs while following confidentiality rules Quality Review: Examine records for accuracy and refer incomplete files to medical staff for correction Report Preparation: Prepare statistical reports and maintain documentation for management reviews Committee Participation: Serve on quality assurance committees and evaluate recordkeeping methods for improvements Work Schedule and Additional Information Full-time employment, 37.5 hours Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30-minute lunch. Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position. Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $45,907.00 (before taxes). Qualifications Special Requirements This position requires possession of a valid Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) certificate or a Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) certificate issued by the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA), or eligibility for certification including completion of an AHIMA approved RHIT or RHIA Health Information Management education program. Post Employment Requirement If you meet the Special Requirement based on the eligibility option for the RHIT or RHIA certification, you must obtain one of these certifications within 12 months of employment. Other Requirements Successful completion of Basic Training in Elizabethtown, PA is required. PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
