Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced Specialty Physician Coder to join our team in Fountain Valley, CA. In this role, you will review medical records, assign accurate ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS codes, support billing and reimbursement processes, and ensure coding compliance across specialty physician services.

Key Responsibilities

• Review and code office, hospital, surgical, and procedural services accurately.
• Assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes based on medical documentation.
• Review surgical and procedure reports for coding and billing purposes.
• Work on claim denials, follow-up queues, and claim edits to improve reimbursement.
• Monitor coding trends and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Educate and support providers on coding compliance and documentation requirements.
• Collaborate with billing, insurance, customer service, and clinical teams to resolve coding issues.
• Review missing charge reports to identify missed billing opportunities.
• Participate in provider meetings, prepare materials, and document action items.
• Maintain coding quality, productivity, and compliance standards.
• Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• CPC (AAPC) or CCS (AHIMA) certification.
• Minimum 3 years of medical coding experience in a hospital or physician practice setting.
• At least 1 year of specialty coding experience in one or more of the following:
• • Cardiology
  • Gastroenterology
  • Hematology/Oncology
  • OBGYN
  • Pulmonology
  • General Surgery
  • Radiation Oncology
• Strong knowledge of ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS coding.
• Experience with Epic EMR and Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology.
• Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Epic software experience.
• Specialty coding certifications such as:
• • Certified Cardiology Coder (CCC)
  • Certified Gastroenterology Coder (CGIC)
  • Certified General Surgery Coder (CGSC)
