To support a trauma 1 facility, the remote Texas Licensed Inpatient Coder will analyze complex medical records, assign diagnostic and procedure codes, and ensure compliance with third-party payor requirements. Key responsibilities Analyze and interpret inpatient records to identify and accurately bill for services Assign and sequence correct diagnostic and procedure codes in compliance with regulations Obtain clarification on conflicting or ambiguous documentation as needed Required qualifications At least 2 years of inpatient coding experience in a trauma 1 setting RHIA, RHIT, and/or CCS, CIC certification Demonstrated knowledge of coding concepts for facility diagnosis and procedure coding and DRG assignment Familiarity with legal and policy directives pertinent to coding Experience using various EMRs and encoders or ability to learn quickly
