The coder assigns ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and/or HCPCS codes creating APC or DRG group assignment for reimbursement purposes. Requires skill in the sequencing of diagnoses/procedures to optimize reimbursement. Must be able to read and interpret operative reports, history and physicals, physician orders, and pathology reports to determine the correct coding.
