Job Summary This position performs facility coding and abstracting functions for inpatient services. Responsibilities and Duties Assign appropriate admit, principal and secondary diagnoses and procedure codes, maintaining 95% quality and meeting coding productivity requirements. Include POA indicators, DRG/MSDRG/APR‑DRG assignments, HAC codes, and principal diagnosis accuracy. Obtain clarification from physicians when documentation is inadequate. Support educators and supervisors with review of denied accounts by RAC and other payers. Assign transaction codes in the HBOC system when documentation is insufficient and follow department policy for follow‑up and physician query. Abstract all data elements necessary to complete UB‑04 and meet hospital‑reporting requirements.
