We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Medical Biller to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical billing processes, terminology, and coding systems. This role is essential in ensuring accurate billing and collections for medical services provided, while maintaining the integrity of patient records and compliance with regulations.
Responsibilities
- Process and submit medical claims to insurance companies and government programs accurately and timely.
- Review patient records for completeness and accuracy in documentation.
- Utilize coding systems such as ICD-10, ICD-9, and DRG to ensure correct billing practices.
- Follow up on unpaid/outstanding claims and resolve any discrepancies or issues with insurance payers (including Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers).
- Communicate effectively with healthcare providers, patients, and insurance representatives regarding billing inquiries.
- Maintain organized medical records and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Stay updated on changes in medical billing regulations, coding updates, and industry best practices.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in medical billing or a related field is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and coding systems (ICD-10, ICD-9).
- Familiarity with medical collections processes and systems used in a medical office environment.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Proficient in using electronic health record (EHR) systems and billing software.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
