An inpatient coder is responsible for using coding policies and procedures to evaluate diagnostic and procedural information in medical records, ensuring accurate DRG or APC assignment for reimbursement purposes, and verifying/abstracting clinical information into the organization's health database.
The inpatient coder works under the direct supervision of the Coding Supervisor and the Director of the Health Information Management Department.

Inpatients
Observation cases
Other outpatient service types, as appropriate
Qualifications EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent
At least 2 years of experience in Health Information Management
1-2 years of inpatient coding experience
