The Certified Medical Coder is responsible for reviewing all patient charts to ensure proper and accurate coding per CMS guidelines and payer requirements. As part of the essential functions of this role, the Certified Medical Coder: Reviews all patient charts, interprets medical information, and confirms that appropriate ICD-10 and CPT/HCPCS codes and modifiers are assigned. Ensures all possible codes have been captured within claims, and that all services being performed are coded to maximize billing. Queries providers for clarification on documentation to accurately assign all codes per CMS guidelines and coding rules. Assists all providers with any medical coding questions or issues that arise.
