Job Description Job Description Helen Hayes Hospital is seeking an experienced ICD-10 inpatient coder with 2+ years of coding experience. Knowledge of coding rules/guidelines for ICD-10 required. Rehabilitation coding experience helpful. Good computer, organizational and interpersonal skills. Knowledge of Meditech system a plus. Position is for a full time coder for hospital based services. Nature of Work: Review inpatient records for appropriate diagnoses. Rank secondary diagnosis by order of severity and comorbidity/complications. Code utilizing ICD-10 CM coding conventions. Follow IRF-PAI regulations in the selection of the etiologic diagnosis, principle diagnosis, and impairment group. Assign tier level comorbidities. Inquire physicians/therapists to clarify diagnosis. Follow un-coded account report and DNFB and acts to address overdue accounts. Enter all required elements into the hospital encoder and abstract screen of Meditech system. Follows...
